After a late breakfast, as the very enthusiastic girls π were a bit late, I packed up to leave to go back to South Africa. Leaving the place was a bit of a challenge π³π First I had to turn my bike around on the hill on wet grass with my short legs...at even slid some metres back, but luckily managed to catch it! Once moving out of the premises it was then to stay on that concrete strip the steep downhill π π«£ Luckily also managed that!
After fuelling up in Piggs Peak it was again offroad all the way to the border post Bulembu. Started nicely, through forest, but the 2nd half was just recently graded, so that was bit more complicated. On a downhill I saw in distance a tractor. As it was so scenic I stopped for pictures. It was good the tractor was along there to have a better track through that graded surface. When doing the last metres down, I already could see it going up pretty steep π³ and when I had my momentum to get up and around the bend there was that tractor π³π³ As he didn't hear me, nor the girls on the trailer, I had to stop as I couldn't overtake him due to the road condition. Great, not the best place to stop AND get going again. And it wasn't...next thing after trying to get going the bike is down ππ³ and tractor gone!!
With the rollback down, I eventually managed to get the bike up. As I had to move the bike into a better position to load again, I dropped it again π³π΅βπ« This time I had to drag it around until gravity would help and eventually got it up again π€ΈββοΈπ but now I have to try to turn it around on this hill with loose rock, ideally without dropping again!
When I was nearly stucked again, luckily a jeep came up the road π The driver kindly helped me turning the bike around and once it was packed to get my momentum to drive off. A bit further up was a flat area, so I waited to thank the driver. I followed him and after the next bend started a mining village - 400m from my bike drops ππ³π
As I was faster than the jeep, I overtook and got finally to the border town. As I was a bit uncertain the jeep driver guided me to the junction to the border post. Glad he was around!
Crossing the border was fast and easy again and finally on the South African side my SIM worked again I was suppose to meet up with some biker from Nelspruit around this time. Luckily they were also late, so that they didn't need to wait so long at the border for me.
20mins into that lovely winding and scenic road, Rehanne and his friends came. After some greeting, I followed them down, out of the mountains. About 30mins before Nelspruit we went to a nice restaurant for lunch and chatting.
Rehanne gave me then escort through Nelspruit that I took the correct road to White River. Just with the last daylight I rolled into the B&B of Lynne. It was so great coming back!! And this time it will be even over her birthday πππ
The next day we had a cafe with her dad George and after picking up Erin from school it was time for my pedicure. In the evening we all went to Gumtree for the Joker night. It was nice to see again Claire, Bernadine, Steven and Candy! They are all so welcoming to me so it really feels like coming home π€©π«
The next morning I headed early to Nelspruit as I was going to meet Rehanne to get my new rear tyre fitted at Pitlane. On the last kilometres zI had a police car with flasing lights following me. I wasn't sure what to do as driving already on the left. As it was persistent I went to the right lane, in case they have priority on the left. The car came next to me and the officer gesticulatied to stop. Now I started worrying what I did wrong. When he approached me he was very apologetic but he only wanted to talk to me as he was very curious about my travel and full of respect of being on a big bike. How cool is that - and I saw myself already in prison π
Finally at Pitlane, Rehanne had arranged with the owner Robene that he will take care of my bike whilst we were out for lunch to meet the other local bikers. Next yo me sat a lovely couple, that totally reminded me to biker friends in the Algarve. And they are from White River and it turned out, that they know very well Lynnes parents! She nearly cried talking about Lynnes mum Diane! She must have been a personality!
After lunch Rehanne took me back to Pitlane to get my bike. I followed the nice couple back to White River, with a syop at a licour store to get a bottle of Jameson gor Lynne gor her birthday. Luckily she told me the previous day in a conversation that she occasionally likes a good whisky π, and it is hopefully Jameson π
The next day we were invited gor lunch Braai at Candy & Steve, where also Bernadine joined us. It was a very nice afternoon with far too much food ππ€ͺ
On Sunday it was already Lynnes birthday π₯ and she had invited Emma and her family and Claire. I tried to help as much as possible as the maid was off - and they letting me doing things. The mindset is here in South Africa isa bit different as having normally a maid.
Unfortunately not many pictures existing of all the socialising as I keep on forgetting taking pictures ππ«£
