As I knew it will be a long day to get to Lusaka, I got up already at 6h30. I had to wait for breakfast and on top there was no electricity. They vould do scrambled eggs on the gire place, but not toasting the bread on it πŸ˜€πŸ™„ Welcome to Africa!

When leaving Katete I also needed fuel and as still no electricity I had to pay cash (but pump worked πŸ™„).

Then it was just going... after 150km, 2 hours I stopped for fuel and was hoping to get a drink, but no shop πŸ™„ so off I went. I skipped all the stops as either no nice place, crowded towns or fuel station only doing fuel ... So at the outskirts of Lusaka, after 420km and almost 6 hours I found a fuel station with a little shop πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ But no fuel - seriously πŸ˜±πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« After the short break, I headed towards Lusaka and found a furl station selling fuel and taking Visa card πŸ™

The last 30mins to the Backpackers was easy even in rush hour.

Unfortunately the room didn't match the description at all, so I complained. I got a different room, but surely nothing to make me staying longer as planned! So I booked another place for 2 more nights πŸ€ͺ

After that long riding I slept nearly 12 hrs, nearly like a log! Just to add the place being not in the good books, there was NO water for a shower πŸ™„πŸ˜€ Breakfast was also basic. Later the day I got the SIM card and set up mobile money as it should work here on Zambia well and I loved it all over East Africa. Oh, and I booked me a pedicure for the next day.

After all packed up in the morning, I left the bike at the Backpackers and walked to the shopping for my pedicure. In the end I also got a manicure 😁

Then I finally left the Backpackers to move to the new accomodation. On my way to there I stopped for a late lunch at Granddaddy's. Ken & Tina's daughter runs the place, but unfortunately she wasn't there as one of her dogs is sick. However the staff looked well after me.

As I just started my lunch a guy approached me and asked if the bike was mine and it turned out, he is a biker himself. He put me then in touch with the vice president of Lusaka Biker Club and we arranged for breakfast tomorrow morning. How cool is that!

About 17h00 I finally left the restaurant to get to the new accomodation which is much nicer!! A lovely little appartment 🀩 The difference in the two places couldn't be bigger - especially if you think the difference is only about €10/night!!

After my breakfast I left to meet Azim from Lusaka Bikers for cafe. It took me nearly 40mins to the other end of town - the traffic is insane as it is so congested. It is more stop then go, even I can occassionally wiggle myself through.

It was nice meeting Azim and his daughter Sara. After cafe he brought me, just across the road, to Gary, the motorbike garage. As he had to go to work, he left me with GT another biker. We both went over a possible route for me and finally I got a rough route around southern Zambia πŸ˜…πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ now it is just about finding accomodation along the route πŸ€ͺ Funnily my USB is working again, so I left at lunchtime Gary's. He was anyhow busy with various bikes in preparation for Sundays Drag Race. I am still thinking if going or not, so looks like staying a bit longer in Lusaka.

GT recommended me a nice restaurant for pizza, but the traffic til there was madness as basically standstill in parts, even with wiggling through!

After the delicious pizza I drove to Granddaddy's to finally meet up with Kerry and her husband Brian. Was so nice meeting them and talking about travelling, traffic in Lusaka and other stuff.

As there is a Drag Race on Sunday, organised by Lusaka Bikers, I am thinking to stay longer. But coming into the weekend, The Cubes hasn't any more a good deal on Booking. GT was suggesting other, cheaper places, so I had a lot to think during the night. Finally I decided to go to, the well recommended Lukasa B&B for camping as at some point I need to get back into the swing for camping. Also haven't used my tent since last year Zimbabwe πŸ€”πŸ™„

The next morning at 6h30 it sounded like someone was knocking on my door 🀨 It wasn't, but at 8h00 the guy from the service did 😳😀 asking about breakfast! Seriously!! Breakfast is until 9h30 and check out until 10h30. I ordered it for 9h00 then, but was a bit wondering if they try to kick me out.

Of course, 9h00 no breakfast. After 10mins I went to the bar asking...apparently in the making. 9h20 he served breakfast πŸ˜€πŸ™„ so why waking me up at 8h00??

After checkout I went to that Cafe I met Azim as close to Gary, where GT would be later.

At Gary's I met David, a very old (long) friend of Vic. He is from Bulawayo and just came for the race.

As not much happening I decided to go to the camping to pitch up my tent.

What a lovely place is Lukasa B&B!! Later the afternoon came a nice couple from South Africa. We had a nice conversation at the fire pit in the evening.

I didn't sleep to bad, but got a bit chilly during the morning hours.

In the morning I felt very tired, so I took it easy. In the end, also for the security of my bike, I decided not to go to the event. I texted Chubby, another biker from Lusaka I was in touch with and we will meet later for cafe. And what a lovely couple are Chubby and Alex. They hosted Henrietta when she crossed Africa - small world! We chatted so much, that I just made it back to the camping before dark!

This night I slept better, but also had another blanket from the camping to keep me warm.

As I got sufficient time, and I really like this calm beautiful place, I decided to stay for another night.

So I had lunch with Chubby and Alex, which was really nice.
