As I had to pack up all my stuff back on the bike and saying again "See you soon" to Chris & Diane, it took me a while to leave Jungle Junction. Also were the group of German Campers pretty curious. Before I left, Chris checked my chain and the tyre pressure.
I met Damian about 1hrs drive out of Nairobi, as we were planning to go North, or looping around Mt Kenya, whilst we wait for the spare parts.
At the fuel station in Thika was also a restaurant where we could eat something for lunch. We used that time to search for a place for the night and the best option on iOverlander was Nthike Farm. As it was more a private place I called the phone number and the "Chief" was happy for us to come. We should call him, when we arrived at the road sign / pinpoint on google.
About 2 hrs later we were at the pinpoint of google, but no sign of the farm. I called the "Chief" and first he wanted to send someone and then he said, once we are on the track it would be easy. I passed the phone to a kid herding along the road to show me the exit. It was 150m up the road 🙄, but from our position we couldn't see it.
We followed the track, a bit of sand, so I had to warn Damian, and making sure I am not dropping my bike. At a crossroad I was not sure, but a lovely local lady with her cows showed me the direction. As soon as I could see Damian in my mirror I carried on until I met one of the workers of the farm the "Chief" had sent. I told him, Damian might have dropped his bike, and I went on as enough people out there on the track to lift the bike. I know, a bit selfish 🤷🙈
It was still not easy to get to the farm, as it went slightly downhill and was freshly graded. I was happy finally to park my bike 😅 and finally meeting the "Chief" - and waiting for Damian. The poor worker up the road waiting for us, was carrying his rollback.
The "Chief" offered us to stay in the cottages for the fee of the camping, actually he asked us what we would like to pay. I suggested KSH1000 ppn and he was happy. One of the girls started to make fresh Chapati whilst the "Chief" showed us around. Once the place is completed, it will be a stunning place as he has great ideas!
The Chapati was very delicious as it was freshly homemade over the fire 😋😋 In the evening he took us for a little walk to show us their land. Back at the fireplace we shared our stories, but it was interesting listening to the stories of the place and the community. His sister lives and works close to the river Rhein in Germany. And they produce and bottle water on the land called "Rhein Agua" - how cool is that.
During the night I slept ok...
