Finally about 7am I crawelled out of my tent, after a bad night sleep. One of the Rangers just passed by and said that there are the elephants coming. I thought he was just joking, but when I looked to where he pointed, there were indeed elephants coming. He explained that they always come in the morning about that time to the water hole to drink. At lunchtime they usually come for their baths.

That was so amazing, observing a young elephant just 100m away (behind a fence though) drinking water. That was a great start into the day!!

I started to pack my things and went for breakfast. I chatted with Wilfried, who even spoke good German. It turned out later he was the father of the manager James, who pointed out the elephants to me. I wonder, if Sheila at receptionis telated.

After breakfast I packed my remaining things and when I was nearly ready to leave the 'neighbours' came back from their safari, so we chatted for a while.

I stopped at reception to say Good-bye and got talking to the staff. One local guy from Nairobi had some more good tipps for the tour back to Nairobi, to avoid that main road.

When I wanted to leave I couldn't find my sunglasses, and I even could remember if I put them on. I searched around and they still remain missing 🤔 very weird! No Decathlon, so hunt for sunglasses will be difficult.

I finally hit the road to Samburu, to Tiwi Beach to meet with Damian. Today only 100km to do on that crazy road 😅 but it felt easier today...maybe less traffic as it is Sunday 🤔

In Samburu I forked off onto a backroad towards Tiwi Beach. It was really nice and except som Boda Boda bikes no traffic. Finally I can enjoy the scenery! The only thing irritating was that google said still 2.5 hrs to go for 90km 🤔🧐 as I was mainly cruising along with 70km/h.

When I arrived in Kinango, I found the answer: offroad! Partly nice road and then again deep rutts, over, around big stones...surely not a route you want to do in rain!!! As still a national/official road there were still Maputos, cars and trucks on that road 😲 A good start into Africa 😉🤩 However, as over 30°C, I was happy to be back on asphalt reaching Kwale. From there it was still 40mins to Twiga Lodge 😳

I was so happy finally arriving there - another 5km offroad 😉 Eddy, the guy at reception, gave me fresh coconut to drink 😋 and showed me my room. Not the Ritz!!! It has passed its glorious days a long time ago, but €22/night incl breakfast I keep quiet!

Maybe in some places I might wish to be back there again 🤔

Then I searched for Damian, Margot and Nico, that were at the beach. After welcoming I went to my room to get out of my sauna suit and had a rest as I had to wait for the water to get warm.

At 18h00 we all met for dinner outside on the terrace. The scenery was really nice, but the dinner not so great. However it was nice to see them all again.

Tomorrow is for relaxing and beaching.
